KAMUELA PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA FUNDRAISER: PIANO SALON RECITAL WITH
REFRESHMENTS & PUPUS
Internationally acclaimed concert pianist, Boris Konovalov, will return to
the Big Island to play a solo recital program at a private residence near
Hawi, in North Kohala, at 2:30 pm on Sunday, September 27, 2009. The recital
repertoire will include well-known classical compositions such as Mozart's
Sonata in A Major -"Turkish March," Beethoven's Sonata #8 in C Minor
-"Pathetique," Brahms' "Variations on a Theme by Paganini," and various
Schubert waltzes. In addition to the spectacular setting and wonderful music,
attendees will enjoy wine and other refreshments, as well as pupus by Blue
Dragon Coastal Cuisine.
After receiving first prize in the 1997 All-Russia Piano Competition, Boris
Konovalov began a successful career as a concert pianist, and went on to win
many other international and domestic competitions. He also earned a
doctorate in music from the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatoire . Dr. Konovalov
has performed in concert with symphony orchestras around the world, and has
also given solo recitals, conducted master classes, and adjudicated at music
festivals and competitions worldwide. In addition, he has recorded more than
100 solo recitals and concert programs for radio and television in the USA,
Canada, Russia, Israel, China and South Korea, and made six CD's.
The suggested donation for this recital is $50.00, since it is a fundraiser
for the Kamuela Philharmonic Orchestra Society. Dr. Konovalov supports the
orchestra's mission, which is to bring quality orchestral music to the Big
Island of Hawaii. He will be appearing with the orchestra next month in the
first regular season concert of its sixth season. Donations are much
appreciated, as there are overhead and administrative costs that must be
covered to accomplish the goal of keeping the orchestra's concerts free of
charge. The Kamuela Philharmonic Orchestra Society is a charitable
organization described in Section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code, so
your donation may be tax deductible.
Reservations for this event will be required as space is limited. Detailed
directions to the venue will be provided once reservations have been made.
